As one of Scotland’s leading providers of kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, we are tremendously proud to deliver high quality designs to our customers throughout the UK. We’ve completed over 100,000 room transformations in over 30 years and are experts in interior design.
Our Company Heritage
The history of our company goes all the way back to October 1984 when Donald Macleod, the founder of DM Design, began hand crafting furniture from his garage in Airdrie. A passionate joiner who had once worked in Govan as a ship builder, Donald Macleod’s aim was to create high quality designs for his customers. His passion for quality craftsmanship soon won him a loyal customer base, which allowed DM Design to grow into the UK-wide business it is today. Today, DM Design remains true to its heritage and is still a family-owned business.
Customer satisfaction has always been one of our key values. We have always been passionate about providing high quality designs at affordable prices. One way we deliver on this is by providing a tailored service for every customer, ensuring that the exact specifications and requirements are met. We offer all customers a completely free home visit, where a designer will visit you to take a technical survey and make plans for the implementation of your design. Once the design is finalised, we aim to carry out all work as efficiently as possible with a minimal level of disruption.
Quality is paramount, which is why we only use high quality products and brands. Our commitment to quality is reflected by the fact that we are a member of the Furniture Industry Research Association. Being a member of FIRA means that our products and materials have met the quality requirements of an independent, international body. We are currently FIRA Gold approved and registered and offer a five year workmanship guarantee on all furniture and cabinetry.
Our Showrooms and UK-wide Coverage
We have five dedicated showrooms in Scotland – Cumbernauld, Kirkcaldy, Aberdeen and most recently, Livingston and Glasgow. In Glasgow, you can find us at Dobbies at Braehead for four months from April 4th until August 1st, and also at The Forge shopping centre from April 4th, for three months until July 4th. Following this, we’ll be re-opening in East Kilbride for four months on the 13th of June until 10th of October. All of our showrooms display our most popular bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom designs with trained experts on hand to give you any advice that you need.
As well as our showrooms in Cumbernauld, Kirkcaldy, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Livingston, we have design teams throughout the UK in the following locations:
Dundee, Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Ayr, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nuneaton, Bromsgrove, Milton Keynes, Basingstoke, Southampton, Devon.
We take environmental issues seriously and as a lot of our work involves manufacturing, we ensure that we do our bit to be environmentally conscious. We’ve installed a biomass boiler as an innovative and environmentally friendly way to deal with the waste produced at our factory in Cumbernauld. This boiler is fed with a variety of old wooden doors, floors, worktops and offcuts from the houses that we renovate and serves to heat the factory. This is just one of many practises that we undertake to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the environment. We are also proud to be a member of the Forest Stewardship Council.
Charity and Community Support
Our local community is at the centre of what we do and we sponsor a number of local clubs and societies. Charity work is also a core part of the DM Design ethos and we regularly participate in charity fundraising events.
One of our most recent charity events was in August 2015, with our Cumbernauld team completing the ‘Off the Beatson Track’ charity walk for the Beatson Cancer Charity. The team also followed this up by holding a yellow themed Halloween day in the office to raise more money for the Beatson Cancer Charity too.
Other charities we have raised funds for have included Scotia Aid, The STV Appeal and Cash for Kids as well as hosting fundraising dinners for Epilepsy Scotland and the Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
We’re involved in a number of clubs and organisations within Lanarkshire and beyond. We currently sponsor Rangers S.A.B.C. 2006 football team.
Founder of DM Design, Donald Macleod, is also a proud supporter of Nordoff Robins, a charity that provides music therapy services to adults and children throughout the UK.
